    P4: Identify and Repurpose Content 

 I have chosen to create my own personal portfolio website for my media profile. This is a digital media profile since my website can be accessed online using the link. I chose to create a website because:

  • They can be accessed from any blackbox device with an internet connection
  • I can create my website to suit the target audience and my specific needs
  •  I can design my website in my own style to showcase my creativity
  • Websites are digital, I don't have to worry about damaging a physical media profile
  • They are easy to update and website builders make it easy to create a website and edit them
  • Since I am taking a digital media course, this showcases my skills and potential employers from across the globe can view my website

 

 What Work Will I Repurpose and How?

 I have created a wide range of media products during my media course, I would like to showcase these on my website. In the table below, you can see what products I have created and how I will repurpose them for my website. I have chosen to repurpose my work for a website personal media profile since I can display my digital and physical media work on there. All of my media work is digital though so a website makes sense since I can easily place my media work on there.

Club Europe Animation

My college project. Produced using Adobe Illustrator, Animate and Premiere Pro.

MP4 file

I will either embed my MP4 video file onto my website or I will upload this to YouTube.

Doesn’t need converting, but adding this to YouTube means my video will be available all the time and my even if my website fails then you can access the video. It is also easier to share videos from YouTube which is the point of a media profile.

Foley Sounds

My college project. Produced using microphone and Adobe Audition them placed in my animation in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Since they are a part of my animation, this is the same MP4 file.

Newspaper Short Film

I will either embed my MP4 video file onto my website or I will upload this to YouTube.

Doesn’t need converting, but adding this to YouTube means my video will be available all the time and my even if my website fails then you can access the video. It is also easier to share videos from YouTube which is the point of a media profile.

Newspaper Graphic

My college project. Produced using Adobe Photoshop.

TIF file also a Photoshop document.

TIF files are high quality images. Since this magazine would also be print, TIF is the best format to print a magazine. However, for online website portfolios, TIF files are very large, may lag and load very slow.

I will convert my magazine images to PNG or JPEG files since they are high/medium quality and take less time to load. JPEG is lossy though so I will lose some quality in the image with a lower files size. But PNG is lossless (not much loss of quality, bigger file size) and would work fine too.

Sheldon Cooper TV Magazine

My college project. Produced using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom.

TIF files.

DonCast Films Radio Show

My college project. Produced using microphone, Adobe Audition.

MP4 and WAV files.

I will either embed my MP4 video file onto my website or I will upload this to YouTube. WAV files can be uploaded to Sound Cloud or embedded.

I plan to create a logo for my radio show and have it as a video instead. This means I will be using the MP4 file.
